Story and Projects

Illustralabor, is a small but friendly space for artistic encounters, mainly on the subject of illustration. In my illustration lab, I organize meetings and artistic exchanges so that people can experiment and feel safe. Not only in drawing or painting, but also in life! After a career in foreign trade and leaving industry, I studied art direction and illustration in Portugal and graphic design in Thailand, Bangkok. As an artist, I am moved by questions about the pain of the soul - my works are in dialogue with these feelings and forms. Examples are the performance SECA about menopause and most recent “My Letters to Louise Bourgeois”. As an illustrator, I try to communicate in a way that is not so perfect and obvious. I like to show imperfections and simplicity and put these points up for discussion. I have already illustrated 10 books in Brazil, am currently illustrating one for a German publisher, and am the author of three books. In my work, I try to experiment and bring to the public what seems imperfect. My goal is to question given concepts. Boxes that our society desperately wants to create to categorize people, patterns and gestures.
